About Face

The ABOUT FACE program is an extension of the Maryland NationalGuard's philosophies of individual discipline, commitment andcommunity achievement. The scourge of drugs and violence throughoutthe state can and will be countered by our future leaders--today'syouth.

The Maryland National Guard is committed today to supporting thestate's law enforcement agencies in stemming the flow of illicitdrugs in our communities. While these efforts are successful, theycomprise only half of the solution to the problem. The eventualsolution to the problem lies in community based action andinvolvement to reduce the demand for such substances.

The ABOUT FACE program is a significant component of the MarylandNational Guard's approach to arm our communities, especially ouryoung people, with the skills they need to reduce the demand fordrugs and the violence that increasingly defines the drugculture.
